Epic Cash · Restore map

1 · Restoring on the phone

Epic Cash Mobile keeps one wallet for each network. Restoring means typing the recovery phrase, choosing a PIN, and letting the app search the blockchain for your coins.

Screen you see The app works Saved on the device / a file Network or blockchain Warning, stop or problem A way in 3 Known issue, see the list below the diagram

Thick green arrows are the usual path. Dashed arrows are side paths. Arrows into the red band are what happens when something goes wrong. In the diagram, tap a box to highlight its links.

Ways to reach Restore

Step by step

  1. Type the phrase. 12 to 24 words, separated by spaces. Upper case and extra spaces are fine. If a word or the order is wrong, the app says the phrase is not valid but not which word.
  2. Optional: where to start. Under the phrase, Start from lets you pick a date (main network only) or a block height. Leave it closed to search the whole chain. For now, always leave it closed: a restore with a start date or height currently leaves the wallet unable to receive or send (known issue 1). A start date after your first payment would also miss coins.
  3. Choose a PIN (6 digits), confirm it, then turn on the fingerprint or face unlock if the phone has it. The phone has no password. The app makes one itself and locks it with your PIN.
  4. Search the chain. "Looking for your funds on the blockchain. Keep the app open until this finishes." A progress bar shows the percentage. There is no Cancel button.
  5. History file. When the search is done, the app offers to import a .wfeh history file (payment history, contacts, invoices and settings). Not now goes to the wallet. You can import one later from Settings.

Network

The phrase belongs to no network. The phone restores onto the network it is set to, which is the main network in the normal app. One wallet per network: each has its own folder, PIN and settings, and deleting one never touches the other.
